WasteWater A Definition

WasteWater A Definition

Write a brief description of the following types of household wastewater. Make sure we can tell the difference from the descriptions.

Blackwater
Greywater
Sewage
Stormwater Runoff

An innovative project in Salisbury, South Australia came up with a very interesting solution regarding one of these wastewaters. Find out which one and could we use this kind of solution in Leanyer? Why or why not. Your opinion is a valuable starting point so make sure you get all the facts first.

blackwater probaly means youv'e got something black in your water like dirt or something.Greywater is probaly a leaf or an old pets cremations that have been in the swerage for a while.sewage water is usally green it can come out at any time i haven't seen it yet but it could come out your drain!Stormwater runoff is the water that comes off your roof after it rains. mine is usally clear but depending on your roof it could come out brown or black if theres lots of dirt on there.

Hi Mr N
its Ashleigh D
the definitions are,
black water polluted or waste.
grey water is things to do wish washing.
sewage is waste launry and other household thinz to do with water being dirtied.
and storm water runoff is rainwater that runs along the ground.
I think the stormwater runoff would be best to use for a new water supplie.

Black water is water containing fecal matter and urine.
Gray water is water that has been used to wash dishes, do the laundry or bathe in.
Sewage water is water is water that has been in our toliets or water that has been in our shower and various things like that.
Storm water runoff is water that runs along the ground when it rains.
I think that the storm water runoff would be the best new water supplie and i think we could use it in leanyer not that we need to.

hi peeps

Blachwater: raw sewage(toilet,poo and wee).

Greywater:untreated water(washing hands,showers,sink and dishes.)

Sewage:the waste matter which passes through our sewers and pipes.

Stormwater Run Off:run off of water following heavy rain and storms.

I'm sill working on the SALISBURY question. They have a reclaimed water scheme.

Recyled water at Mawson Lakes, Salisbury.
With this project they will save up to 800 olympic sized pools of water from being used from the Murray River. It is the first of it's kind in Australia. It produces treated waste water and storm water that has been cleaned and treated through a series of man made wet lands. The system will supply water to thousands of homes around the area for domestic use like flushing toilets, watering the garden and washing cars.

I think the system will work in
Leanyer because we get alot of storm water and it would be easy to make wetlands here to cleanse the water to recyle.

Blackwater is wastewater generated from a toilet, bidette or bidet which is heavily and directly contaminated with human faeces and/or urine and may contain contaminated solid material, such as toilet paper. This wastewater is highly infectious.
Greywater is wastewater which does not arise from a toilet and includes wastewater from a hand basin, shower, laundry and kitchen. Greywater is often contaminated with human faeces, dirt and other materials but to a lesser extent than blackwater and is therefore less infectious than blackwater.
Sewage is a combination of both blackwater and greywater, and again is very infectious.
Stormwater runoff occurs when precipitation from rain or snowmelt flows over the ground. Impervious surfaces like driveways, sidewalks, and streets prevent stormwater runoff from naturally soaking into the ground.

Greywater comes from washing machines and showers.
Sewerage comes mainly from toilets although shower, bath, hand basin and kitchen waste also go into the Sewerage system.
Stormwater is rain that runs from roofs and down road gutters into the Stormwater system.
Still working on Blackwater.

Blackwater just has dirt and mud all through it and stuff like that.
Graywater can have like paint and chemicals like that.
Sewage water is just the stuff that u flush down the toilet and all ur waste.
Stormwater is water that comes from the sky and it is very fresh unless if it comes off ur roof or somthing else thats dirty

They use wastewater (sewerage) from
treatment plants and urban
runoff. I think this would be good for Darwin. But we also have a lot of rain so it is a good idea but we don't NEED it. It may be good for the not very near future.

Black water is polluted or waste water(or what ever you want to call it). Gra water is things to do washing in. Sewage water is water that comes from the toilet and other things like that and stormwater runoff is the rain water that runs of the roof.

Grey water
Grey water is all the wash water except toilet wastes & food wastes derived from garbage grinders.

Black water
It contains faeces matter and urine. It is toilet wastewater. It doesn't contain any washing waste like Grey water.

Sewage
Has toilet waste (faeces matter and urine), washing water.

Storm water runoff
After a storm, rainwater collects on the ground, in trees, on the road or on a rooftop. Then the water evaporates under the hot sun.
Any water that doesn't evaporate now just runs down the street into a storm drain.

Black water is waste and pollusion.
Grey water is what we wash our dishes and what we swim in.
sewage is poo and wee and a lot of other junk it goes through pipe and it leads to different places. it is green and it sinks sooo badly. storm water is water that runs alone the ground or through the open pipe on the top of our house's it is from a heavy storm.
storm water could be used for water usage. we could use it at leanyer but we don't really nedd to do that.
