Using this website or any other website , answer these question using a paragraph style which includes a topic sentence and supporting details. It would be good if your supporting details are real examples from your backyard or local environment.
What is biodiversity?
What are the threats to biodiversity?
Can you give a real example for each threat?
As usual leave your answers (paragraphs) as comments.
Bonus question: As I walked to school on Monday morning, I noticed a lot of earth worms on the sidewalks. They were still alive, and since they were roaming next to many gardens, I ruled out excess fertilizer as the cause of their wandering. On my walk home I noticed many had perished in the hot afternoon sun. My question is "why on Monday did so many worms decide to leave the safety of the garden soils?

biodiversity is a term which is often used in environmental literature and yet seldom properly understood. this is gus hi sorry about not doing my homework that much i forgot the site address
from gus ;) :)
the last message i posted was a bugger up. sorry i didnt read the first paragraph and couldnt see the link here are my answers:
biodiversity goes to to the variety of all life on earth, and the tough relationships among living things, and between living things and their area. Biodiversity includes genetic variety, species diversity, and variability in communities, ecosystems and landscapes.
how i can back this up:
this biodiversity thing is like it helps creatures and some humans by giving clothes and food and drinkable water. it helps some people survive.
some threats for biodiversity:
habit loss is 1, cause if we lose the habitat of the animals they will have nowhere to live and they will have to move into the town then they will become pests and get killed.
thats my fixed up 1, sorry about the 1 i stuffed up, i just want a good mark on my report card cause my mum and dad want me to have good marks, ok this is from gus
;) :)
what is biodiversity?
do you really know what biodiversity is? if not im going to tell you. biodiversity is the varity of life on earth and the realation between all living things and the enviroment. for example there are some wild snakes, worms and even birds in my yard. there all part of biodiversity.
what are the threats to biodiversity?
the following things are the threats to biodiversity. the first is habitat loss if there is no enviroment the animals can't live peacefully. the second is pollution. Pollution wrecks the eco system which destroys our plants. If there are to many animals they will overpopulate and end up eating all the plants.
Can you give a real example for each threat?
a real example of a threat to biodiversity is. if humans keep cutting down trees there wont be any left. then all the animals would die because they had nowhere to live and nothing to eat.
What is biodiversity?
It is about aimals working to gether, If Darwin was over poulated or If Darwin was to chop down and concreat everything there would be less animals and birds, less wild life and the same will hapen with polition.
What are threats to biodiversity?
some threats are loss in habitat, over poplation, poltion in water and air.
Can you give a real example of each threat?
bonus Q
the ground got to dry and so they craled up from the soil and went to find a soggyer place to live in somtimes they go on the path and the path is to hot for them and they shrivel up and die.
Biodiversity refers to the variety of all life on earth and the complex relationships amoung living things. Habit loss, degradation, invasive species, pollution and over population are only a few risks to biodiversity. These are some examples of the risks. Habit loss= people cut down trees and so the animals that live in trees have no where to live. Degradation= the environment could be degraded into a lower state. Invasive species= species of plants such as weed can be an invasive species and grow over plants that animals eat. Pollution= big boats cause pollution if they have an oil spill. Over population= Animals might over populate and there will not be enough room for the animals. I think that the worms you saw on monday left the garden because the ground wasn't moist enough.
Biological diversity, or "biodiversity," refers to the variety of all life on earth, and the complex relationships among living things, and between living things and their environment. Conservation scientists have identified a number of universal threats to biodiversity: habitat loss and degradation, pollution, overpopulation, overexploitation and consumption, and global climate change.
biodiversity means animals that work together, If Darwin choped down some trees or plants that wildlife live in and put down concreat or tiles the wildlife that live around the area would die because there would be no place to hide or find food.
WHAT ARE THREATS TO BIODIVERSITY?
1.one threat is loss of habitat
2.over population

biodiversity refers to the variety of all life on earth. biodiversity allows us to colect things such as, food, clothing, medicine, and fuel. Conservation scientists have identified a number of universal threats to biodiversity: habitat loss and degradation, invasive species, pollution, overpopulation, overexploitation and consumption, and global climate change.

Biodiversity is how the environment & animals in the same region depend on each other.
Over harvesting, deforestation, alien spices & pollution are some threats to biodiversity.
Alien spices endanger biodiversity because they can kill of keystone animals or make a change to the ecosystem that can be devastating. Over harvesting trees, animals (food use) & other natural resources can lead to many problems. If humans continue to cut down trees to fast for them to reproduce, a local extinction may occur. Pollution ruins habitats, contaminates natural water sources & causes biodiversity to breakdown.

Conservationists have identified a number of threats all over the world to biodiversity: habitat loss and degradation, invasive species, pollution, overpopulation, overexploitation and consumption and global climate change.
Limited, but significant clearing of woody native vegetation is occurring in the Territory. The National Greenhouse Gas Inventory includes an estimate that about 16 280 ha were cleared in 1989-90. This is an averaged figure based on clearing estimated to have been undertaken in the period 1983-93 on pastoral leasehold land.
Despite increased knowledge, understanding and adoption of sustainable land management practices, land degradation problems persist in large areas of rural and regional Australia.
The plant Mimosa pigr, native to tropical America, has become a devastating invasive weed in Australia. Growing to a height of six meters, mimosa forms impenetrable spiny thickets along riverbanks and floodplains, preventing access to water, reducing biodiversity and pasture production, and restricting traditional land-use practices.
An estimated 100 000 marine mammals (dugong, dolphins, whales) and turtles are killed by plastic rubbish every year around the world.
The decline of human population has been even more dramatic over the last 6 years. In 1994 we added 78.5 million more people, this year we will add 60.1 million. This is a decline of 3 million less people added per year. If we maintain this 6 year average of 3 million less people added per year, we will peak in population reaching zero population growth in 2020 with 6.64 billion people.

Council is currently conducting a house to house mosquito survey as a part of their responsibilities under the Health Regulations 1996. The survey will be looking specifically for container breeding mosquito sites and potential mosquito breeding areas. Occupants of the premises visited will be advised of any sites that are found and it will be recommended that these sites be remediated or treated to prevent further breeding. Samples will be taken from any breeding sites and the larvae identified to determine the types of mosquitoes that are breeding in the area.
