Zoos and animal parks

Most major regional centres and capitals have zoos and specialist animal centres, like reptile parks or aquariums. Try a web search or the telephone directory for your local options. Ask about education programs, zoo sleepovers, fact sheets and other programs and resources they provide.

i can volunteer to help with animals and creatures on earth.

Specialist animal groups

Do you love lizards or get in a flap over birds? If you love a certain type of animal, there is almost certainly a group for people just like you. Some groups have different names so you may need to do some research. For example, organisations of reptile fans are usually called herpetology groups.

join a group of people and help out with enviomental problems and animals that need help.

in your own back yard and composting. i could ask mum if we could plant some more native species in our back yard (even though we already have lots of palm trees), i could also do composting i could get the food scraps after tea and put it in the compost.

hi mr.n, the ones i would pick are Joining environmental groups and helping local habitats, because joining an environmental group, we would be there to possibly make a difference and take more care. Sort of the same reason with helping local habitats to stop habitat destruction.

These are the points that I think we should be doing what I can probably do
SPEAKERS AND EXCURTIONS
We should try to get a speaker about environmental issues and/or go on an excursion to a national park to see what is happening and if we can help in any way and/or have a ranger tour at Gunlom waterfall (U.D.P. falls) to show us around.
HELPING LOCAL HABITATS
My dad has is the deputy conveyer of PL.A.N. (Planing Action Network) my family help with that as much as we can to save Darwin’s beauty spots.
TEMPT NATIVE SPECIES
We have planted only native species in our garden and made it as cat and dog proof as possible so that it is a ‘haven’ for native birds. Also, my dad and I are working towards planting some trees in various places.
IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD
In the early days of our backyard we pulled out all feral species of plants, though we are still trying to get rid of the numerous weeds.
AVOIDING FERAL PERIL
As it has already been said we have tried our hardest to keep out ‘feral peril’ in our backyard and we have also been out to parks and done some ‘gardening’ which like the man in the starfish story helped someone or something.

Composting
Composting is a great way to recycle organic matter like kitchen scraps and lawn clippings; it will create a thriving habitat for many insects and become a tasty source of garden nutrients. Ask your teacher or parents to help you build one for school, home or both.

DANIEL D HOMEWOK

i think that i would join a environmental group so i could treat the animals properly and do more for the animals then ususal. I would also not keep animals in cptivity so they can roam free.

I can continue to recycle my families food scraps to my chickens & use lawn clipping as their straw.
I can plant native trees suitable for nesting & remove plants that are introduced.
I luv turtles, so I could walk the babies down to the water safely.
When I visit the nature reserves I will remove any visible rubish.

Hey Mr N

Ask your parents if you can plant local species instead of exotics in your garden; your local nursery will have information on what’s available and suitable for your area. Native grasses, flowers, shrubs and trees are more likely to attract native birds, butterflies and other insects, and maybe even some threatened species. In rural areas, you can help by keeping patches of bush as wildlife habitats and leaving old trees standing, especially those with hollows suitable for nesting animals.

we already have alot of native plants and palm trees in our back yard, but i could get mum to get some more seeds and we could plant some more, i could use all of there grass that my dad cuts off after he cuts the lawn and that could be compost.
